Homeschooling with preschoolers is a joy and a challenge. These are my favorite resources for the little years: what they really need to know, the curriculum we love, hands-on tools, great books, and ideas to keep them busy and learning.

What preschoolers really need to know
Here’s my personal take on what your preschooler needs to know, to help you decide what to focus on, plus the curriculum I’d choose if I could go back.
Purely Preschool
We love Purely Preschool in our house. It’s an easy, open-and-go curriculum that focuses on learning through reading and play.
Hands-on learning
Learning toys and manipulatives introduce important early concepts, and you can build fine motor skills with 10 Dollar Tree items for about $10.
Finding quality books
Reading is such a critical learning tool for preschoolers, but it can be hard to find good-quality books. These are my favorite places to look.

Read-Aloud Revival
Fantastic free booklists full of quality literature, plus a great podcast wherever you listen.

Honey for a Child’s Heart
Booklists for every age, with a description of each book and room to track what you’ve read.
