August Bible Reading Plan

Why Join The Challenge?

One of the best things we can do as moms and homeschool teachers is prioritizing spending time in God’s word. Digging into His word is how we learn more about who God is and who He created us to be. Over the past few months I have had the privilege of digging into God’s word with friends and have found that doing the readings with others helps me to stay accountable so I would love for you to join us in this bible reading journey.

What We Are Reading In August

In August we are going to dive deep into the topic of God’s Sovereignty. What is sovereignty? Well here is a fantastic definition from The Gospel Coalition “The sovereignty of God is the same as the lordship of God, for God is the sovereign over all of creation. The major components of God’s lordship are his control, authority, and covenantal presence.” It is the idea that God is in control and he has a plan for us. If you want to learn more about this term and what it means be sure to check out this article HERE

We will be looking at how God is Sovereign and what God’s word has to say about it. One thing we must be aware of when doing topical studies is making sure we keep everything in context so I have done my best to make sure we are looking at the whole context when digging into these verses. I would encourage you to journal as you read this month. Write down those verses that stick out to you and what they teach you about  God’s sovereignty.

I felt like this topic was very fitting as we go into the new homeschool year because we can tend to get overwhelmed and all consumed with making plans and praying it will all work. While having a solid plan is not bad we can tend to put our trust in those plans instead of putting our trust in God so my hope is that as we focus on this important topic that it will help us to set our eyes on a God who is sovereign and who is perfect (unlike our plans).

Why Do You Include Catch Up Days?

I know life happens and we can get behind so  I have even built in a catch up day every 7 days. If you are on track and don’t need the catch up day I would encourage you to read a psalms or read over the passage from your Sunday service.

So as I have been sharing these plans over the past few months I have learned from many of you that you like the idea of having both a printable PDF as well as having images that you can save to your phone so starting this month I will be sharing both so you can keep track of your reading whichever way is easiest to you.

I hope you enjoy reading along too and I would love to see your thoughts on what you are reading down in the comments below or on instagram. Just tag me @Lifeinthemundane on your stories or on your posts.
