“Wait, Alexa can homeschool my kids?” Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch. But did you know there are hundreds of educational games your kids can play on Alexa that engage their minds and teach them new things?

Here are our favorite games, plus the everyday ways we use our Echo to make homeschool days a little easier.

Our 10 favorite educational Alexa games

10 ways we use Alexa in our homeschool

Games are my favorite, but these are the everyday ways our Echo earns its spot in our homeschool:

  1. Audiobooks during quiet time and at bedtime.
  2. Music for review, like praise and worship, Scripture memory songs and catechism songs.
  3. Gathering the troops. With more than one device, use the intercom or send an announcement when the kids have scattered.
  4. Spelling help. Kids can ask, “Alexa, spell rhinoceros,” while they write.
  5. Looking things up when a word, idea or historical event comes up in a read-aloud.
  6. Timers and alarms for timed math facts, tablet turns, piano practice and chore rotations.
  7. “What happened on this day in history?” for fun history facts.
  8. Shopping lists for school and science supplies that show up on your phone at the store.
  9. Calendar and weather skills. Kids learn dates by asking “How many days until December 4th?” and can check and chart the weather each morning.
  10. Educational games, like the ones above.

Alexa can play podcasts too. See our favorite family-friendly podcasts.
